Founded in 1986, the Margaret E. Martindale Guild was created by friends and loved ones of Margaret "Peggy" E. Martindale who died of Neuroblastoma at the age of 31.

Peggy touched many lives during her short 31 years. She had a courageous spirit and was surrounded by loyal, loving friends. The Martindale Guild honors her spirit by helping to fund cancer research so that someday we can cure those afflicted with fatal cancers.

Our annual events have raised over $5 million to benefit both the Hutch School and the Hutchinson Center. Sip, Savor and Support the Hutch offers a warm and intimate evening featuring good wine, music and live auction items. Proceeds will benefit the fine arts program at the Hutch School, a fully acredited K-12 school program sponsored by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Seattle Public Schools.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the following research initiatives, and patient and family programs at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center: international research, early detection and intervention, immunotherapy research, leukemia and lymphoma, fundamental research, prevention research, and the Hutch School.

Hutch School students are all going through an extraordinary time in their lives as they cope with illness, emotional distress and moving. Private donations raised by events such as Sip Savor and Support the Hutch allows the fine arts program - which includes visual art, drama, music, creative writing and poetry - to play an important part in encouraging students to explore ways of expressing ideas and emotions while developing their academic skills. Depending on when during the year a student is at the Hutch School a student might work with Youth Theater Northwest, Writers in the Schools, Art with Heart, and The Healing Music Program.

The Martindale Guild’s mission is to raise money to help fund vital scientific research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
